What is mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is a modern and widely used method in aesthetic dermatology, which along with hyaluronic fillers and other injectable procedures has revolutionized aesthetic medicine. The skillful combination of mesotherapy with other aesthetic procedures is the modern adequate counteraction to the aging process and the preservation of a youthful appearance without surgical intervention.

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a medical technique created in 1952 by the French doctor Michel Pastor. It was officially recognized in 1987 by the French Academy of Medicine as part of traditional medicine. Mesotherapy is the micro-injection of cocktails of active substances /vitamins, coenzymes, minerals, amino acids, nucleic bases, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, etc./ into the superficial, middle or deeper layer of the skin depending on the treatment area, products and techniques used. Mesotherapy provides precise infiltration of active substances that facilitate cell metabolism, stimulate collagen and elastin biosynthesis, control pigment formation processes and restore effective local microcirculation. The injection during the mesotherapy procedure is performed by various manual techniques or with a special mesopistol. The number of treatments is determined by the application and medical protocol.

Applications of mesotherapy in aesthetic dermatology

Mesotherapy of the face and body treats many skin conditions such as blemishes, sun spots, skin blemishes, birthmarks, acne, fistulas, acne scars, stretch marks from childbirth, stretch marks that occur with weight gain, herpes zoster. It affects the aging of the facial skin, smoothes wrinkles, lifts, hydrates and evens the complexion.

Mesotherapy for hydration and rejuvenation of the face, neck and décolleté

For patients with dehydrated and faded skin without radiance, mesotherapy for hydration and rejuvenation gives excellent results. The main problem in such conditions is depleted hyaluronic acid in the skin. Therefore, the main ingredient of mesococktails injected in mesotherapy for hydration and rejuvenation are hyaluronic acid in combination with vitamins and minerals. The injection is made into the superficial layer of the skin or directly into the dermis. The procedure restores the lost hyaluronic acid content in the skin, revitalizes, tones, firms and hydrates, giving the patient a radiant and youthful appearance.

How the procedure proceeds

The method of mesotherapy consists of three different injection techniques depending on the depth at which the active substances are introduced into the skin. In each procedure, one, two or even all three techniques can be used simultaneously, depending on the desired result. Therefore, each procedure begins with an aesthetic consultation, during which we make an overall assessment of the patient’s condition – age, skin condition of the face, neck and décolleté. We then assess the patient’s expectations and develop an individual plan for the application of mesotherapy. The skin is then cleansed and disinfected before the application of an anesthetic cream to reduce the sensation of pain in the treatment area. After the procedure, the skin appears more vibrant and bright. If necessary, the mesotherapy is repeated at intervals of 1-4 weeks. Treatments can be done every 3-6 months, averaging 4-6 sessions. Results from mesotherapy begin to appear after the first treatment. After the treatment is completed, the skin renewal effect continues. Within the first 24 hours after mesotherapy:

  • The treatment area should not be washed;
  • Do not exercise and avoid physical exertion;
  • Avoid excessively hot environments (solarium, Turkish bath, sauna, etc.).
  • Avoid alcohol consumption and smoking;
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight
  • Consume plenty of water
